Default Trunk Lid Pulldown

I have a '99 without this capability and my '07 does indeed have it. When did this option first become available, especially for C-5's, if ever, and if so, can it be added to a '99?

It was never an option on the C5 line, and I haven't seen it in the aftermaket.

The C5's didn't have this and the C6 design I saw in the showroom didn't impress me enough to retrofit one. I made my own using the stock latch so that the trunk lid pops up 1" as always but then motors up an additional 1". Closing requires that the lift spring resistance needs to be overcome to latch then the lid pulls down 1". How far up does your C6 lift the lid and how far down does it have to travel before it pulls down?

The C-6's lid comes up about an inch. Closing it, I use the handle to pull it down, a hair fast, but not slamming. It will pull down and latch easily. However, when the windows are open, the trunk lid doesn't use the pulldown...it just closes all the way and locks. I assume it uses the pulldown to overcome the air pressure in the car which is why I would like it on the '99. If I slam or close to slamming, the '99's lid, a crack will slowly develop in the paint in the center right below the emblem. If I latch it slowly, finger prints all over it or I use my shirt. Unfortunately, the carpooler uses all of his fingers on it and leaves marks everywhere.
