I want to mount an external GPS unit in my 2000. I had seen somewhere that they make a bracket that mounts next to the radio, to mount these units. Anybody know where I can find one. Or some other kind of good mounting device.
I just suction cup mount my Garmin 650 towards the middle front of the glass roof. It's up out of the way and right in your line of vision when you glance to the right. Works great and no one can really notice it up there from outside the car.

The car is asleep for the winter. All you do is suction cup mount it to the glass roof in the middle of the roof (side-to-side) and as far forward as you can. It'll run 7-8 hours on just batteries, or, if you wish, you can run the power cord from the unit over behind the rearview mirror to the cigarette lighter socket. Works great!

Proclips are great. I have them in my CTS. Tacoma and the Vette. Work great in each of them and no problem with reception. Just my experience but I am very happy and a lot of my friends have ordered them after seeing mine.

Seawolf, would you have any pics of the proclip unit you have in your vette?
Thanks,
Woody
I have a Garmin 2720 it comes with a weighted bead bag mount. The unit locks in the bead bag and sits on the dashboard. I bought it on the recommendation of a friend that travels a lot. No suction cups or holes in the dash. I like it very much. It doesn't move around during normal driving. Never tried WOT with it on the dash.
I've got a Kuda USA mount that I mounted on the A/C vent.
Thanks.... Looks like the best thing for me.
I've ordered the Kuda A/C mount... like having the GPS up high.
Going Garmin Shopping this weekend!! The new Nuvi 5000 with 5.2" screen at BestBuy should be in stock. If it's just too big I'll go with the Nvui 850 or 880.

Your friend was absolutely right. Great GPS.
The 2720 comes with a Bean Bag mount as well as a stick down mount. With the Bean Bag, it will slide off under WOT, but not under normal driving conditions. Best Buy sells the Bean Bag mount for the Nuvi series as well. Its a good mount if you want to move your GPS from car to car.
I want to install TomTom 920T GPS mounting to my Vette....How many mounting parts do I need to buy? Too many options on their website....make me confused.
I did a lot of searching for the ideal gps for me. I ended up with a Garmin Nuvi 660 for under 300 bucks. The next task was to find a good mount. I looked at several. One mounted next to air conditioning controls. That fine but they don't reccomend taking the bracket in and out a lot. Some people mount their gps in cup holder. Tried that with my Garmin 2720, Top heavy and lost use of cupholder. Here is what I found. Bought it on that auction site for less than $7 plus shipping. Works great. Perfect location. Also can take from car to car in seconds.
