My wife's 2002 Grand Cherokee lost over drive and a new tranny for it was $2600.....So $2800 doesn’t sound bad for the corvette. But I've never had to replace it in the Corvette so I'm Probably comparing apples to oranges.

PS. They built a better one for the Jeep with better gearing ratios and crisper shifting and provided a 2-year 20k warranty on it. So at lest it wasn’t all bad.

Be very careful. Azone, etc sell rebuilt engines that almost last 24k.

What about GMpartshouse and a target transmission? I believe warr is 50k miles with GM backing it.

Or one from a wrecking yard, depending on where car was hit. Roll over (wreck) would be good.

Lot of rip offs with motors and trannies.

One chain used to be noted for guying truckloads of trannies from junk yards and simply steam cleaning them.

Time to upgrade, think of it as an opportunity. You can buy a built transmission from RPM and others for around 1700 bucks. That's what I did and installed it myself. Now you'll have a transmission that can handle some horsepower. Plus they usually have a shift kit installed meaning you can hold it in 1st and 2nd gear manually if you want to.
