I've got an 01 TR Vert and my tires are getting very low on tread and the front polished 5 spoked OEMs have spider webbed very badly (although the rears are in perfect condition ), so i am in the market for new wheels and tires. I am looking at Ruff Racing 278 or 279 (also like the C6 5 spoke), but am curious about the up keep on the wheels. How difficult is it keeping the rivets as clean and shiney as the smooth surfaces? Any other issues to look out for when purchasing a tire/wheel combo? I do not care if there is a little extra weight on the wheels as I am more into the beauty than performance. Cost is also a factor as the wife is watching me closely, so if anyone has some front polished OEMs in great condition they are looking to get rid of, I might consider keeping the rears and just getting new fronts and tires all around.
I have the Ruff 278's in chrome. I put a couple coats of mothers chrome polish prior to mounting. Thay clean up real easy w/ Car wash soap and towel. Much easier than my polished stockers. I get many compliments on the wheels. They look great and were a bargain. Just cant put real wide tires on them.
The OEM polished wheels are clear coated, so it's likely what you are observing is flaws in the clear coat. It might be a relatively simple matter to bring those back to life by polishing with a mildly-aggressive compound. ymmv.

Shouldn't be too expensive to have that done. I will check into it. Thx!
