Default Emergency! ATF problem

I am trying to refill the tranny fluid on my 1998 M6 corvette. I have followed everyones excellent advice here on the forum and it has worked so far.

ONE BIG PROBLEM! I bought a siphon pump from O'reilly to pump the new ATF up to the fill plug...but it will not pump up from the ground.

Did I buy the wrong pump. Is there a difference in a siphon pump and another hand held pump?

(Lucky for me I read the forum's advice and have not pulled the tranny drain plug yet.

Please answer ASAP if possible. I need to get this done today.

I bought a flotool trans fluid and gear oil on/off spout, part# 10106. I think I got it at O'reillys for about 6.00-10.00.
It's a foot long clear plastic hose with a black cap on the end. The end that screws onto the transmission fluid bottle is black/yellow. It twist for on/off. I just stuck the hose in the transmission and lifted the bottle as high as I could and poured/squeezed the bottle. Worked just fine for me.

I found the receipt. I did buy it at O'reilly's. The part number is 10106
The list price is 5.07 and their price is 2.99.

you could buy a suction gun that will also put the fluid back in, look in the lube isle of most auto stores or something like northern tool or harbour feight also has them.

I don't have a M6, Do they take ATF in them unlike the older standards?

OK. new issue.

I called Oreilly and they say the part number that Jeff mentioned does not match.

Also, the sales clerk said they do not stock anything that will pump fluid "uphill".

Does anyone else have any ideas and where can I buy such a pump?

This might sound strange, If you have room try a turkey baster.
Use to use one on my Super Charger to put oil in it when I changed it.
You might have to put a small hose on the end of it, It will get you out of a bind.

The thing I have is not a pump......mainly just a long flexable rubber tube. Hope this helps.

Total

Does this Auburn graduate not understand what a pump does? That has to be the singularly dumbest comment I have ever heard.

I bought a pump from West Marine that they use to pump gear oil into the drives with. It works great, just place the pump into a quart and pump away. It has a 36" long clear plastic hose on it.

Thanks again, Jeff. I will just go by the parts place and pick it up myself!

I should know better than to listen to a clerk on the phone.

(Also, thanks for the link, it will help me be more specific.)

If that does not work, I will try one of the other above suggestions.

Thanks again Guys...Auburn comment aside.
