Stick it to the lens with the tear drop out.

I can't tell from your blurry pic but the bulge faces out and the seal sticks to the light.

I've been toying with the idea of putting the joint at the top because some water (when washing anyway) gets in the joint and leeches out later causing the mess they're supposed to cure. My theory being that less water will enter the joint if it's at the top.

You can see how the bulging, tear-drop side of it gets compressed when you push the lenses into their receptacles.

The first set I put on with the joint at the bottom did exactly that. I put a second set on with the joint at the top and no problem. Plus you don't see the joint unless you get on the ground and look up at the tail lights.

I think you, I and C5-Mike are onto something here. Maybe this is the way that they should be installed per the instructions. I'm going to change mine tomorrow.

Edit - I removed a tail light with the hopes of removing the seal and putting the joint at the top. Removing a 1/2" of the seal seemed to wreck the sticky stuff so I quit before ruining the whole seal.

The joint at the top looks better, you'd have to get on your hands and knees and look very hard to see the joint. If installed properly. But to answer the question the fat part goes out.

Guy's, the main thing is that the teardrop side faces out. The joint is all preference. I have installed them both ways and do not really see a difference. The seam/joint should be exactly touching so it should not prevent an issue with water.

If you are looking for seals, we have them here..

Corvette C6 Seals

Corvette C5 Seals

Thanks,

Jim

Thanks for the quick reply Jim. I'd done a super job of butting the ends of the seals but there is still some dribble.

If I can find some way to re-stick my seals I'm going to reverse them.

I tried doing the obvious thing of inverting the whole light unit but they're not symmetrical.
