A friend of mine is looking to buy a set of wheels for his 1998 Corvette, non Z51, stock suspension. Another friend has a set of 18x9.5's that he wants to sell. The wheels are a +43et offset with a 5x120 bolt pattern. Will these wheels fit without having any clearance issues?
The rears will fit flush with the fenders, about the same as stock Z06 wheels fit the body.
On the front, they will hang out of the fenders about 3/8".
To measure if stated offset is correct, lay a straightedge across the rim lip on the backside of the wheel, and measure down to the mounting hub. (this is the actual backspace dimansion)
You should measure about 7" backspace, for a 43mm offset 9.5" wide wheel (which will measure 10.5" overall width).

So, just out of curiosity, if he already has the wheels and they hit the calipers then something is wrong with either the design of the wheel or they are not a +43 offset?
Could be the design of the wheels, and/or the lack of contour in the spokes. If the wheels have a very fat lip, that eats up caliper clearance, but the wheels could still be at that offset.
If they hit the calipers at a 43mm offset, just think how bad they'd hit if the wheels were a (more proper for a C5) 54mm offset (it would be even worse).

The wheels are a Ruff Racing 278. Anyone have experience with this wheel?
