I tried searching for it, but for some reason could not find anything. stock to stock which one is faster? With flows for both...which one is faster? I am in the price range where I could go for a z06 or a 1lt c6. Thanks for any input.
I had a feeling I would get answers like this. You guys need to go into the c6 forums and and talk some smack and set up some races....haha...just kidding. Hopefully in a few months I will have a vette.
You should learn as much as you can about these cars, then make a decision. It's a big investment! (and I use the term "investment" loosely... more like big purchase) Both cars you are considering have pros and cons. Also I've not heard of a 1lt C6. If you mean LT1, that was the engine used on late model C4's. Good luck on your endeavour, enjoy this forum, and do lots of research.

1LT is the trim level, think Base model 1LT, moderately equipped 2LT, Fully Loaded 3LT.

The Z06 is slightly faster on the road course--Corvette magazine did a test back in late 2004 when the C6 came out. The C6 Z51 was a second or so slower. Even on the road course, it is a driver's race. I was just out on a road course and I had no trouble with a C6 Z06--it was all the driver--he was not experienced yet. The Viper on the other hand--gave me more trouble--I could out brake and out corner him, but he was licking me too much in the straights. I have to work on my driving more.

Who cares? You aren't going to notice the 2 tenths difference between one or the other. Get whatever one you like. If the bottom line is speed go buy an old mustang (or any car for that matter) and spend a few grand to mod it to an 11 sec car and beat both the Z and C6. $7k and an old Integra should net you about a 10 sec car.
well Ive only raced two C6 coupes in my Z.One was an `07 one was an `06.I beat them both handily.I even missed a shift against the `06 and he still couldnt get past me.That how bad I beat him off the line.
Z06 better looking and faster than a c6 all day long
new ones pretty much even to the C5 Z. Most people on here aren't good enough at driving to notice the difference in lap times or 1/4 miles. (i.e. it's going to come down to the driver). i think the C6 and C5Z ran the same time at the ring.

also realize you are comparing a z51C6 to a C5Z. He isn't likely going to buy a Z51 1LT, and a non Z51 C6 will not keep up with a Z even with a poor driver.
The C5 Z06 will be quicker, and tends to be a slightly better road course performer.
I own a C5 Z and have driven a C6 Convertible.
Both are strong out the box. The interior in the C6 was nicer than the C5 Z06. Noticeably so.
I went with the C5 Z06 for a few reasons. These are my personal reasons, listed as follows:
C5Z, while not a "true" 350, was one of the last 5.7's produced. I wanted a "hot rod 350", as I put it.
The C5Z provides much more feedback in the sense of steering feel, road feel, etc.
The C5Z feels exactly like its supposed to, a slightly less refined track attacker.
Later on in life I'll probably not dig those "positive" things so much. Dream about the times I enjoyed them?...sure. But I'll probably be driving something more refined.
Drive them both if you get the chance. Both are great, with their own mannerisms.
