After searchin the forum I saw the fold up square drink holders that attach to psngr side of the tunnel.... Are these the same as the one pictured below that I use in my toy hauler and boats and buy for 6.99 from Cabellas? See pic....

Yes, pretty sure these are the same with a clear plastic panel attached to the back that you fit between the floor and slip under the lower edge of the console.
But you can do the same with a piece of 1/8" plywood about 2.5 " wide and long enough to reach from the desired cup holder height to the floor of the vette then slip it under the carpet edge that slips under the console edge....then screw the cup holder through the carpet to the plywood.
Works great for me,

You can get these cup holders at any store that carries RV accessories or on line for less than $6

And a new model I just found, but more $$

Girl-in-a-box makes the best cup holder for the C5, IMHO. Check ebay for her stuff. I have 2.

Needless to say my original cup holder is now an iPod holder.

Better than plywood... looks like a factory option... cheaper than other things sold by the big guys... quality can't be questioned.

Default For looks and performance, go with the travel buddy

IMHO, of all the drink holders I have seen, the travel buddy is the only one that installs in the proper location to make it easy to use, holds most fast food drink cups without spilling even on curvy, bumpy roads, [B]and[B] looks like it belongs in a Vette. It installs without tools or stickum, and can be removed in seconds if necessary. I own two, one on each side of the tunnel in front of the seat. The factory holder isn't even a convenient location, it just gathers high speed dust in our car
