Hello vette heads,I have a problem I'm sure someone has an answer for ,A few weeks ago my DIC read "trans temp high" and when I tried to bring up the temperature the DIC read trans temp XXX. well I've driven it twice sence then with no problem then on Sat. I went about a mile and the DIC read high trans. temp,I shut the motor off and started it back up with no message showing. I'm thinking Temp. sensor because the temp. had no time to warm up at all. Any input would be helpful. My baby is a 1998 C-5 auto with 49,000 miles .

That kind of comment probably made a few people decide NOT to answer.

ANYWAY, I could only guess on this that the trans temp sensor is acting up or no good at all any longer. Just a guess.....

Could be a bad connection (dirty etc.) or it could be a sensor.
Chase your wiring back there and pop your quick disconnects and clean them (electrical cleaner).
When I say chase your wires I mean check for any wear of the insulation or see if they are broken.
Check and tighten all your grounds there is an electrical sticky on this. I think the sensor itself is at the tranny, but I am not to sure.
I think if you could buy a complete C5 harness and rewire the puppy every 4 or 5 years the C5 would have no problems at all.
Oh, and like Glenn said. Be patient waiting on an answer. Someone will get back to you.
There is enough knowledge on this forum to build a C5 from scratch.

Regards,
The Pup

These are the actions to take first.

On the main menu page, where all of the forums are listed, scroll down to the bottom of the page to the Help Forum. It's a forum for all non car related site questions.
You can use that forum to ask questions on "How do I...?" (post an image, add an avatar, quote another post, copy a link, etc)
Basically, you click on your user name (or user cp in the red banner above) and follow the prompts.
If you look around that forum, it's probably already been asked and answered by other new members.

FYI, it's the forum where you apparently originally posted this question and it got moved.
