does anyone know where I can purchase a couple titanium v-bands or even two bolt flanges? I want to make some modifications to my exhaust but can't find these parts anywhere...
I'd call and talk to a local welding shop. They may either have the parts, or have an idea where to get them.
Note a couple of things .....
* Welding titanium is a more complex task that "regular" welding. The weld area has to be protected by inert gas ... for more info take a look here ...
* Titanium is HARD. If you plan on trying to cut it or drill it, think about taking it to a machine shop. It is not an easy material to work with.
BTW, Timet is the supplier for the flanges used on the Z06 ... from an article in "Automotive Industries" back in 2000 ...
"Now, exhaust system supplier ArvinMeritor, and Titanium Metals Corporation (TIMET), the world's largest Ti manufacturer, believe the time is right for a significant push into the auto industry. The two companies co-developed the 26-pound Z06 exhaust system, which is 44 percent lighter than the Corvette's standard 46-pound stainless steel system."

You can, but the high heat and gases in the plasma causes contamination of the titanium. If the cut edge is to be welded later, the contaminated area has to be removed by grinding.
Apparently high pressure water (with abrasives in the water) cutting is now the most "accepted" method for cutting titanium, especially if welding is to follow the cutting process.
