how easy/hard to replace defective digital temperature climate control device?

Very easy. Just remove the center console. 4 bolts, two under traction control switch, the other two under the armrest, you will have to remove two covers. Then snap off the interior temp cover and remove screw, there are also two screws under the control, one behind the ash tray and the other to the left. Then there are two screws to remove the display, one electrical connector on the back. You can pull the shift boot out of the console and work it through the hole as you are removing the console, no need to remove the shift ****. If any questions let me know.

If you do a search you will find a do it your self instruction on how to fix the existing board you have to resoder some resistors on the board there is very detailed inst and PICTURES

Let me tell you how easy it is .. I never held a soldering iron in my life and I was able to fix it .. just one word of caution .. do not touch the old soldering joints with the iron for more than a few seconds .. since the chips come loose .. Good luck and would definitely recommend doing it yourself on a day when you are in no hurry.
