If you call Valentine they often have refurbished (New) detectors at a reduced price. I bought one and I couldn't tell it from new. It even has the latest updates.
Is there a particular model. I've heard that there is a 1.8(like mentioned earlier) and a Euro model. But I thought there was only one model? I guess what I'm asking is, how do I want it?
Also is there a power source on the C5 coupe mirror for the short power cord?

I wouldn't get the remote display. I would get a 16" Invisicord and a visor mount. Unfortunately the Great Lakes mount is NLA. You can still get one from Vettemods, but it doesn't tuck up quite as tight. Mount it on the passenger side.

That's my advice.
I just went to their site, and it certainly appears to be available.
I have yet to see a better mounting set up.

Your suggestion for a 16" cord tells me the mirror has no power source? Is this true?
Please understand I don't have the car with me right now. I would assume it plugs in at the console. But that would be more than 16". So I am clueless. Somebody straighten me out.

I just went to their site, and don't see it. You can get a visor and mirror mounts for C6s, and mirror mounts for C5s, but no visor mounts for C5s. I wrote the fellow about it a few months ago and he said that he had run out and wasn't going to have another run made due to low demand. If they are indeed available that's great news, and a link would be appreciated. I would order a spare.
