Yup, it's common for a previous owner to remove it and sell it independently of the car...if the previous owner even had it. I bought my car from the original owner and he never got it when he picked up the car from the local dealership.
You can buy replacement kits from Gene from GMPARTSHOUSE (a site supporting vendor), or find them occasionally in the CF classifieds, or sometimes on EBAY, or from DISCOUNT TIRE DIRECT, or THE TIRE RACK, or a generic compressor from your favorite auto supply vendor, or the other Gene at GENE'S KAR SHOP (another site supporting vendor who deals in used Corvette parts).
previous owner probably sold it on ebay as they bring a pretty penny.
My car came without the tire inflator kit too. I figured that this is exactly what happened...the original owner kept it and sold it later. These things were several hundred dollars from the factory. I bought mine off Ebay from Bryan. It is Ebay item #270152144350. Brand new GM with the storage box and with a good date on the tire goop for just $69.00 plus $12.00 shipping. In fact I bought 4...one for both cars....one to keep for later...and one for my son to use on his 4-wheeler in the woods.

good to see they are more affordable now, before I thought I had seen them sell for over $200.
SLIME can adversely affect your tire pressure sensors (not an issue with a Z06)...that worries some, others could care less if they're out in the boonies. Some will tell you to carry a cell phone, AAA and a credit card. That's not very McGyver.
I carry a GM compressor, the GM sealant goop and a package of string tire plugs/tool.
Why would someone pay $90.00 for the same item they can buy for $69.00?? Your best bet is from Bryan, Ebay Item #270152144350. It is a factory GM item for less bucks.

Something doesn't add up here. This is the current info from Gene Culley's October sale pricing:
22732102 – Compressor kit w/sealer – 121.90
Includes compressor, sealer and storage container.
Now here is the info from that eBay auction for $69.00:
This Genuine GM Emergency Road Side Inflator Kit is original equipment on 2001- 2004 Corvette ZO6 (part number 9593933). This kit includes a high pressure air compressor with an inline gauge and a bottle of tire sealant capable of sealing up to a 1/4 inch hole.
Notice that the descriptions and part numbers are not matching up here. Can anyone please shed some light on this for me? I need to get one of these for my car as well.

Z06 Dude, I bought 2 units from this guy. They are the real deal......GM units. He still has 16 of them left.

GM and every other manufacturer change their part numbers on a regular basis. I wouldn't be concerned about it as long as the kits from whatever source you buy from has all of the items you'll need.
DISCOUNT TIRE DIRECT also sells the exact same kit with GM numbers, including everything that GM included in the original kit. The case has DISCOUNT TIRE DIRECT on the side. It sells for a good price (less than retail) as well.
In my case I am also trying to be "factory correct," so something like the Discount Tire Direct kit won't work because of the company's name being on the case.
As part numbers changed from GM, were there any differences in the kits? If so, what were they and what should a 2001 Z06 actually have?
I'd be willing to bet that if you removed the vinyl DISCOUNT TIRE DIRECT decal off the side, you'd find all GM. I know when this has been discussed in the past, a few members were also aware of this offering from DISCOUNT TIRE DIRECT...maybe they'll chime in.
I bought my kit from another member as I also wanted "correct" for my car. There are obviously many owners who would rather save a few dollars.
I don't think there was any change in what came in the kit...bungee cord, black plastic latch case, decal with instructions on the side, compressor, tubing and gauge, power cord, sealant with expiration date.

My 2001 Z06 has part number 9593935 in it (original) ... and a lookup on http://www.gmpartsdirect.com says that is a valid (and expensive) part .....
The other "original" part number is ..... 9593933 ... which is the kit WITHOUT the sealer. It is also still a valid number at gmpartsdirect. The sealer itself is part number 9593932 .. also still a valid number.

Thanks for the info.
You are most welcome!! Yep..Bryan's kits are all GM factory kits with the correct GM labels and GM part numbers for only $69.99 each. No other stickers on these but GM. He actually bought these when he bought out a Goodyear branch warehouse. I hate to see people get screwed by paying the regular GM price for these. Ebay Item ##270152144350
