Default sanding help

I have a few spider cracks on my hood and want to have it repainted next spring, along with the front bumper. I have two questions-1st what grade of sand paper should I start with, and finish with? 2nd is there a difference sanding the fibergass hood vs the rubber bumper?

I'm a hobbyist so take advice accordingly: Wet sand with 400 grit before the initial prime. Sand down to the point where there are no more spider cracks. Feather all the edges of the sanded area so there won't be any dips or valleys. I think you treat the hood and bumper the same.

Thanks for your help guys. It will give me something to do this winter while I wait for all the stones to get washed off the road. Thats one reason why I want to move down south (Myrtle Beach), PA doesn't know any other way to treat the icy roads besides using stones. Although salt probably isn't good for the suspension either.

Don't mess with it. If you are sending the hood out to be painted you could end up costing yourself money by messing with it.

most painter/bodymen DO NOT like owner prep jobs. check with your painter FIRST or you may find yourself with a sanded car that no one will paint!!!
