Hey guys, i was having brake problems where when i would press the brake pedal, car would come to a stop in a wierd way... the brake pedal would pulsate. anyway, many have said its the pads and that the rotors have nothing to do with it... but.. when i swapped the rotors i used the SAME pads as before.. (only has 2k miles on em) and all my problems were fixed... even high speed vibration. i also painted the calipers all in one day was a good saturday project. Here is the pics !! [Tip: when removing rear rotors make sure the Parking brake is NOT pulled, or else you will have annoying problems, luckily for me I realized before banging out the rear rotors that my e-brake was up ]
Nice job! I see that you've already put your Christmas lights up too!
Haha yeah, next is to do the lawn and trim all the plants... I was supposed to have that done this weekend but I decided to do my brakes and add christmas lights instead
Looks good! But it IS the pads that causes the pulsating. The pad material is building up on the rotors (usually from casual driving), when you swapped the rotors the buildup obviously went with them. A couple hi speed stops makes the pulsing go away as I had the same issue, and that did fix it... until the buildup occured again. The slots will help prevent the buildup from reoccurring though.
Its always a good change to get rid of the rusted stock rotors!
That is exactly the problem I'm facing, and I thought I was the only one. Even at 35 - 40 Mph, the brake paddle pulsates. Someone said its the "Anti-lock" system acting up. I've been very furstrated with this issue...
So, what kind of rotos / pads did you get? From where, and how much? Your car looks awwwwwwwwwwsome..
Guys save yourselves some money and buy some roloc conditioning discs and go to town on the rotors with them. You can pick some up from Auto Zone etc.. for about $10 for a pack. Attach them to your power drill/grinder and scuff up the rotors really good and then go for a ride.
Just did this myself yesterday and it fixed my squealing problem and the "warped rotor" feel as mentioned above.
