Half a Vararam!
How this came about is this top half of the Vararam kit plus an almost new K&N filter were advertised on Ebay.co.uk for a starting price of 99p ($1.88) anyawy there were only 4 bids & I ended up the winning bidder for £1.20($2.28) They guy said he had broken the bottom half!
Add shipping £6($11.40) so it cost me £7.20 or $13.68 total!
I figured the filter was worth buying for that as it was almost new and washable.
I left it in the garage for a while then I had an idea how I can use it and open up my stock intake to let more air in.
So I trim the edge of the K&N filter so it fits nicely into the end of the Vararam part I have and then secure it with 4 self tapping screws 2 at each end.
I then drilled lots of holes in my fog light housings to let more air through. This would allow the air to flow through up to the open Vararam & K&N filter. I figured this must be letting in much more air than the stock filter and all I spent was $13.68!

I can hear more induction noise form the new intake and I feel a slight seat of the pants difference in the way the call pulls now. Wether this will translate in to a faster 1/4mile time or not I will have to wait until next spring to find that out.
I hope to have done the A&A mod on my exhaust by then as my Euro model Vette has a more restrictive exhaust than the USA ones to satisfy stricter European noise laws.
I don't suppose anyone has broken the top bit of their Vararam and want to sell the bottom bit!
Money is a bit tight with me at the moment and I have no money for a new Vararam and shipping to the UK plus import duty!
I figure there must be more air coming in now than the stock intake!
What do you guys think?
