I upgraded to the chrome Z06 wheels. These wheels eliminated the dull look that the stock wheels brought to the whole car. Now the car seems to glow a little. I definately would have selected the chrome wheel option if GM offered them. Don't expect it though, as chrome adds weight to the car and that goes against the philosophy of the Z06.

I love the stock look. They are a cool color, I think they really look mean. They also hide brake dust really well :D I get a lot of compliments on the color of the wheels too.
When they first came out, I wasn't that fond of the stock Z06 wheels. The design has grown on me since then, but I immediately fell in love with the first chrome Z06 wheels I saw. Just perfect for my pimpmobile! :D
If I ever paint the car like a GS (hey, it could happen!), I'll be looking for a set to powder coat black. But for now, the Torch Red and chrome wheels combo will do nicely. :)
The closest I have ever gotten to a chrome wheel was the machined outer edge of my American Torque Thrust Wheels. I got tired of polishing them with Semichrome! Went back to the wide base stock wheels on my 62, see sig.
I wish the Z06 wheels were painted a darker color gray or black.
Re: Chrome vs. Stock Z06 wheels (Andy@AandACorvette)
I have chromes but am seriously thinking about stripping them and powdercoating them black. Red and black just look mean together.
Hmmm..... red and black, eh? Very interesting thought you have there.
I was wondering if it wouldn't be possible to buy a set of "slugs" (unfinished wheels) from the repro guys at a reduced price. You know, just the aluminum wheels before they are chromed. Would be perfect for powder coating!
