Default New wheels and tires question

I am considering getting a new set of chrome rims and regular (non run flats) tires. When making the change, do you guys still use the tire pressure monitors? Do you purchase new ones and tune them into the cars system, or do you take the original ones out of the original rims ? I dont want to use my stock rims and run flats which are almost 10 years old, as the car has very low milage and will be a garage queen. Thanks

IMO, keep the sensors in the rims - good safety feature. However, if your sensors are original and nearly 10 years old, go ahead and spend the money for new ones. Can't be much life left on the old ones.

I was thinking of leaving the original wheels and tires intact. If I get all new rims, tires and sensors, do the new sensors have to be tuned to the car? If I choose to not use sensors at all, will the message center on the dash go nuts?

If you get new sensors, you have to program them to your car, easy to do, you need a magnet, like on a 6x9 speaker... or even smaller, do a search on how to do this or someone will chime in.
