Default possibly bigger problems

My traction control needs service, the heater control light does not work, could these be expensive? But the car has been lowered.

if you are receiving traction control, ABS, or active handing messages on your DIC you have an EBCTM problem, very common. search for EBCTM or absfixer and you'll find everything you need to know!

if the heater control light you are talking about is the LCD screen which shows up very dim so you can barely read it at night, that is another very common problem. its pretty easy to fix if you have basic electrical skills. lots of info here!

the car being lowered shouldn't affect either

First run the On Board Diagnostics and find out what codes are showing. Just sending an EBCM unit off to ABSfixer isn't always the solution. What year car do you have? If it is a 2000 or earlier car does it have the JL4 option (Active Handling).

If you have a dealer do the EBCTM, plan on closer to $3000 than $2000. The heater/panel issue can turn into another $500 to $1000.

If you don't have the Helm manuals for your car, be sure you get them before you start pulling off parts.

A used hvac display will cost you about $150 and it is real easy to change. As for fixing the LCD display, I followed the instructions on the below link. The electrical skill you need is to be able to solder a few chips that control the display .. very easy, I never held a solder iron in my life and was able to do it, carefully read and follow the instructions, word of caution: do not touch the old soldering joints more than a second, this will dislodge the chips and move them around causing more problems. Here's the instructions ..
