Default blackwing frustration

Have an 03, so I'm supposed to use the piece of tubing that comes with the filter. I've got it all together, but the unit seems too long for the compartment, meaning I can't get the grommets on top of the radiator shroud to sit properly. The entire unit is slightly propped up. NOthing in the way, everything is lined up. I've pushed the tubing on as far as it will go!

This is supposed to be easy.... someone help me please!

Default Blackwing here too

If the tubing you are talking about is the large diameter tubing that connects the Blackwing to the air intake? My Blackwing instructions told me to trim the tubing to length to make the Blackwing fit properly. You are most likely using the entire piece of tubing without trimming it shorter. That will cause the problems you are describing. I had to shorten my tubing considerably to get the correct fit. Try installing the Blackwing without the tubing, then hold it level with the air intake. Then you will have the correct dimension or length for your tubing. Trim as necessary and you will have it! If you have any further questions I can probably go out and take a digital picture for you.

I didn't see any Blackwing instructions with mine about trimmimg the connector but if you can cut it straight and neat then it makes perfect sense to do it...good post

Ryan,

No where in my instructions does it say to trim (maybe I missed it), but I was just sitting on my garage floor and thinking of doing that very thing.

I'd say I need to start with at least a 1/2 inch to start.

Thanks for the insight, at least I don't feel crazy now!

Many thanks!

Take it easy... I had the same problem. Loosen all clamps and seat the unit on the grommets as expected. Once everything is seated right go ahead and tighten things up. You shoud be good to go...

Cut it, but a little long is better than a little short (you can move the engine quite a bit on WOT from stop).
