Hey guys. I'm in the market for a used Z06, and was checking one out at a local dealer this weekend. I didn't buy the car for various reasons. One reason - it was making a noise that the salesman told me was normal. I've been a car guy for almost 20 years and my common sense says there's no way this was normal. But since I'm new to Corvette's, I figured I'd ask anyways to make sure I'm not being over paranoid.
That said, when shutting the car off in neutral you could hear a loud rattling noise coming from the transmission. If you shut the car off with the clutch in, the noise would go away. Your thoughts?

Always believe what the nice salesman tells you, remember he's there to help!
Actually I passed on an automatic car once because I heard the cats jingle at shutdown (apparently not a huge deal). The good news is I found a solid deal on my Z06. The more you learn here and search for YOUR car the happier you will end up.
I thought the same thing when I looked at a 2003 Z06 here in the UK, but the CF guys assured me it was normal.
So I bought the car, loved every minute of the 10,000 miles I've done this year, the transmission hasn't fallen apart and it's still making the same noise.
