First time owner and putting C5 up for winter months. Is it recommended to put the car up on jack stands or is there a different method/technique/product for preserving the tires?
Not much is required for 5 months indoors. Air up the tires, take out the battery and park it. You don't even need sta-bil for merely 5 months.
I just put my car away a few hours ago. I first put down 10' x 30' of 4 mil vapor barrier. Then I parked the car on it and removed the battery. Cover the car with a nice soft cover and finish by picking up the edges of the vapor barrier and duct taping them to the sides of the car cover. This way any moisture from the ground is prevented from entering the car. Keep the battery stored someplace warm and NOT on a concrete floor. Concrete floors suck the life out of car batterys.
In the spring change the oil, check the tires and reinstall the battery.
Don't store --just drive it when the weather is nice.
I may go a few weeks or a month without driving it but eventually the roads are clear and dry - so why not? It's kinda like the guy who put rubber mats over his new carpet when he bought his new car and left them there only to be enjoyed by the next owner.
