Default Engine covers... what plastic

Does anyone know what type of plastic the LS1 engine covers are made from. Is it ABS or something else.
Would ABS plastic tolerate the temps that engine covers would be subject to.

If no one knows the answer, does anyone know where I can find out?

The engine compartment doesn't get as hot as you would think, but I don't know. Is it carbon reinforced?

Thanks for the replies, I will try out some ABS plastic covers to see how they survive.
The reason I wanted to know was because I was in a plastic factory the other day getting some ABS to make some heater ducting and they had some really nice Burl Walnut ABS (same as they make the dashboards out of) and I thought they would look good as engine covers. It is fairly simple to make a mold and have the covers produced. When I get around to doing it I will post some pics.
Thanks again for your replies.
