Default Check Engine Light

I was out for a drive yesterday in my 04 Z and about 6 miles into it my check engine light came on. The car was running great and all gages were reporting good numbers so I'm a bit confused why it decided to come on.

Anyone have an idea of what problem might have caused it to activate?

I'm going to see if I can get the codes later on today.

In the mean time don't worry too much. The Check Engine light is always emissions related. Probably a leaky gas cap seal or something silly like that.

Common problem is the gas cap.

Take is off and clean around the seal and make sure you it is on tightly.
"04s" do have a fill tube TSB and maybe you have a leak.

Mine did this when I had the car inspected and they pressurized the
the system and a few miles afterwards, the light came on.

I cleared the codes and never happened again.

Didn't tighten gas cap after fill-up.

I followed everyone's instructions and pulled up the code below.
  • P0803 1-4 Up-shift Solenoid Control Circuit (M/T) -B
  • B2272H Left Mirror Motor Fault DCM-L

I added a CAGS shift eliminator a little over a year ago and I'm wondering if it's going south for some reason. I can shift any time I choose so I know it's working but for some reason it's throwing this code...

Nothing to worry about.

Did you turn off your Check Engine Light? You can do that. If you need to know how, just say so, we'll let you know.

Here's the entire procedure to read and then clear codes (which will also turn OFF the CEL).

Turn the key to the ON position, but don't start the engine.
Clear any present messages by pressing the RESET button.
Hold the OPTIONS button down, and press the FUEL button 4 times. This will get you into the CODES section of the DIC.
The computer will automatically display all the codes your car has created.
It will cycle through each code every 3 seconds.
Any code that ends in H is a history code (something that has occured in the past) but is fine now.

Once the computer has finished going through all of it's codes, press RESET to enter Manual Configuration mode.
It should start with a module and show "NO CODES" or "# CODES".

To optionally reset the codes once in manual mode.
Press and hold RESET until it displays "NO CODES".
Press OPTIONS to go to the next module.
Repeat these steps until you have reset the codes in all the computer modules.

Only reset the codes IF you want to - it is NOT necessary to do this.

Not in the Owners manual.

Keep this for future use...

You'll also want to bookmark this ===> 5th Generation Corvette DTC Codes to go along with the above info.
