Default C5 keyless entry problems

2000 corvette keyless problem:

I walk up to my car every morning afternoon etc..
The keyless doesnt work...

- i have reprogrammed the keyless fob many times
- replaced the battery with a new battery

the only thing that works is when i hold the unlock and lock button for the 7 second period it honks and i can open the doors... But, I've had to do this every morning and every afternoon etc...

It works for a little while but if i wait around 30 minutes or so then it forgets the keyless or something...

Help! =(

Same thing happened to my 2000 and I took it to the dealer, they checked everything including the receiver in the car. I needed a new fob. I replaced it and haven't had problems with it since.

Earlier this year I had similar problems. Ended up replacing the key fob and all has worked well since.

I just bought a new FOB. Had the car tuned after headers, etc. install. FOB didn't work! Lock and unlock 7 seconds and car unlocked but the next time no. Repeated 7 sec and reached in through open window and unlocked it by door button with key in and no more problems. Someone should write a book about ths kinda stuff! Oops, they did, Corvette Forum.com!

This happened to mine, fob would work for one day then nothing. I then went to the owners manual and followed the procedure for a new fob (using the old fob) and it has been fine ever since. Try it out, much cheaper than a new fob.

The circuit board inside the remote probably has a broken or cold solder joint. On mine, I have seen it on the chip itself and other components close to the edge of the circuit board. Reflowing the solder joints worked for me.

mine did something similiar. sometime it worked and sometimes it didnt. i opened my up and noticed there was a broken solder. solder it back together and works fine now. the fobs are a little fragile. simply dropping the fob/keys, tossing them on the counter etc.. can cause the solder points to break. take a look inside the fob you'll probably discover one broken.
