A while back I bought a stock airbox from a forum member for $20.
I decided to cut the lid between the clamps to allow in more air. Kinda like the zip-tie-mod with the ease of having the stock lid/clamps. I cut it using a B&D jigsaw, then filed the edges smooth. I stopped at the hardware store and bought some closed cell foam weatherstrip 3/8" X 3/4" and affixed it to the edge of the bumper pad beneath the edge of the hood. It closed the gap Perfectly, cost $3. I will post pictures when I can, my camera is broken. But initially my mileage is up one mpg, and the car seems to rev more happily!

.
I am not to sure about the foam idea. In time the foam will deteriorate
& the engine will start to suck in foam.
