Installed C6 Z06 shifter
Thanks to Patches' great write up, this install went very quick! Thanks again Patches
I took it for a quick spin and I am happy with the results.
Here's a thought though. The colour of the leather is a bit lighter on the new shifter. Has anyone tried to dye the shifter a bit darker? I was thinking of using some polish or something. Anyone try this or have an idea how to do this right?

I have one in my 2004, there's a world of difference between the stock C5 shifter, and the C6 shifter.

This has been asked previously. Someone said they used shoe polish and really rubbed/buffed it in which made it somewhat darker, but not a perfect match.
You could try a leather dry, but it probably wouldn't penetrate sufficiently and it would also need to be covered with polish.
You could also try SEM products. It's basically an aerosol that is used by shops to change the colors of interiors. Check their website for more information...use keywords "
SEM products ".

C6Z06 shifter has shorter overall height, angled shaft, shorter throws, more precise (less notchy), the **** fits your hand better, etc. Love mine.

I don't know. I should have mentioned that I was comparing the C6Z shifter with the factory C5 shifter. Sorry.

I believe that the C6Z shifter is a 1/2" shorter than the C6 shifter.

So they are the SAME shifter other than the length?

Mike98 thanks for posting that link...don't know why I didn't post it
Hotwheels thanks for all the tips. I may try this. I just don't want to screw it up.
Yeah, overall this shifter feels better. I find it is a lot easier to shift into reverse...I was worried it was going to shift into R by accident
