Three years ago I changed the factory fluid in the differential of my 2002 Z06 with AMSOIL Series 2000 75w-90 synthetic. It is time for me to change this fluid out but I cannot seem to fnd this product as I believe it has been discontinued/replaced in their catalog.
Anyone here familiar with AMSOIL's product line who can inform as to what the correct fluid name that replaced the Series 2000 75w-90would be appreciated.
If the lube is too slippery, you will wear out the LSD clutches in VERY short order.
If it isn't slippery enough (not enough Extreme Pressure Additives) then the gears wear prematurely.
I had a bad experience with a well known synthetic (racers use this one A LOT) that was too slippery on a C4 Dana 44 (ate the clutches in a two autocross weekends) and have since then used the factory fill with the modifier as recommended in the service manual.
I have also experienced "groaning" when turning around a tigh arc slowly (like parking the car) with some lubes that mean that the clutches are meeting metal on metal, also not good...
To anyone following this thread. The Severe Gear synthetic 75w-90 indeed does replace the Series 2000 75w-90 (called Amsoil). I ordered this and the synthetic ATF as I have been running both for the last 3 years with great results and see no reason to change. Thanks for the help.
