Default Low Profile Jack-Yea!

Got this Low Profile jack from Sears yesterday.
http://s7.sears.com/is/image/Sears/0...7&op_sharpen=1
Now I can get under my C5 without driving it up on some wood. The car went about 3/4 inch lower with the new tires just missing my old Jack. FYI I searched all over the internet and all the Low Profile stuff was high priced, even the steel ones. Local Sears store had one in stock for $45.00. Like all inexpensive jacks it's made in China but it seems very solid and rated 2.5 tons. It is Heavy though. Thought I would pass on this information to the CF.

Don't know why this one would not upload but I did put in the Link. I will try to take some pics with my digital tommorow. It really is one of the better looking inexpensive Jacks out there.

If it's anything like the last Craftsman jack I bought, you will need a replacement in 6-8 months.

Keep your receipt handy... I have their aluminum racing jack and swapped it out a couple of times already. Mine lasted about a year each time.

I really had a hard time finding a jack that would fit under my car (lowered with suspension AND body bolts). The Craftsman in this thread was VERY nice and came close, but if I remember, it was about 3.5", and I needed 3" or less. It was a real dilema...nobody had one. I swung by Harbor Freight one day for some grinding wheels and ran across one that was advertised at 3"...WOW! I rarely buy cheap stuff, as I feel that you get what you pay for, but this one was the first one I had seen this low profile. And it was on sale for about $80. I bought it, it worked, and I have been very happy with it. I don't think that it is quite as nice as the Craftsman, but I would have paid 3 times that much if it had worked.

I'm sorry but American made products aren't what they used to be, especially when they use substandered materials from China.

EVERY craftsman jack I've purchased has broken. I have their professional series ATV jack and there trolly jack. I've actually had the trolly jack break on me 3 times in less then a year, yes thats 3 times! First time right out of the box on the first pump it broke, took it back got a new one. Second time it was as I was lowering the vehicle and it almost killed me, again I took it back and got a new one. Third time was as I was lifting the car up off jack stands and I almost lost a hand. Now it just sits in the box because I'm afraid to use it.

The professional series ATV jack only broke once as I was pulling the trans in the Z06, luckly it has a mechanical safety otherwise it would have been VERY expensive to fix!

A couple years ago I bought a low profile jack from Costo for around $129 and it has worked FLAWLESS.

After 3 Craftsman floor jacks, I ended up buying an AC Hydraulics jack. They are made in Denmark, have 3.1" minimum height...no problem getting under a lowered Vette.

Omega also makes a decent low profile jack - 2.5" minimum height!

Good price on the jack. Hope it holds up well for you. I've got a number of jacks from Sears and they had held up well.

Thanks for the heads up, I have the receipt and Sears is pretty good about returns. I noticed others have had some problems with Craftsman Jacks also. This one works fine so far but we shall see how it does in the long run. I just don't need one that often anymore and could not justify the expense for a true Racing Low profile Jack. Two other trolly Jacks in my shop are from China and have worked fine. I guess it depends what factory in China makes the product although I tend not to buy their Junk if at all possible. CF forum is the best for exchanging user information.

AND SINCE IT IS FROM CHINA, PLEASE, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU WEAR RUBBER GLOVES BECAUSE IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN PAINTED WITH LEAD BASED MATERIAL.

I'm taking delivery of this jack today- from the looks of it - has a much lower and farther reach then any other jack even though it does cost more. I ended up buying from tooltopia because shipping was $6 instead of about $90 from Northern. Excited to see it today!!!

Does the saddled remove from the Omega jack? If it does what is the diameter for the pin?

Humm....it is absolutely identical to the Craftsman except for the paint colors. Little sticker on side even says "Torin"...Humm
