Default Just completed AVIC-D3 install w/ bezel mod

Just completed my D3 install. I did the bezel mod myself using abs sludge and a little body putty. The GPS and XM antennas are setting on top of the right rear wheel hump under the carpet and both are working well. See the photos for the rear view camera location.

Fitting process. Sludge seams visable on the sides.

Back side of bezel

XM module jammed in on left side of radio support structure.

Bluetooth module located flat in area of removed ashtray supports.

Rear view camera mount

Bluetrooth mic mount

It's all in and working very well. I am a boy.

Great fit and finish. How is your FM reception? I found that my D3 gets fair to poor reception; not that I use it much, I use an ipod.

Do you happen to have a pic of where you drilled the holes for where the support bar under the radio was moved to support the D3? I'll be doing this mod soon and any visual aids would be very helpful.

I spent $1.59 at Radio Shack for the "7805" voltage regulator that puts out +5volts for the cars antenna amplifier. See this thread for more info.

I drill out the support that is under the stock radio and turne it over to make room for the head unit. The head unit is supported by side brackets I fabricated.

I think you gave me the antenna link Was fabrication necessary? I was hoping to use that stock "support bar" and just relocate it.

I have not seen anyone use the stock support bar to actually support their head unit. You would still need to stop it from moving forward and back ward. The best answer I have seen so far is two simple L-brackets. You could probaly get selving L-brackets and make them do the job.

Anyone out there use the stock bottom bracket to support the head unit? If so how?

Nice photos! GREAT CAR! The flames with the Vette logo... is that a still or are the flames moving in the background? If it is a still, is there any way to get a motion background while not using the AVIC?
