when i go over certain bumps i hear a sound kind of like if the shock is blown or like a rattling sound. this doesnt happen when i go over speed bumps. anybody had this same problem?
Thats odd. After I added the C/Os my car became so much quieter. Even the noisy links on the T1 bars weren't as noisy when driving. Still clunk at times but nowhere near before the C/Os.
no. mine do it too. coilovers are more noisy than stock stuff. it's like worrying about your aftermarket exhaust being louder than stock. it's a byproduct of flowing more air. coilovers aren't concerned with NVH (noise, vibration, harshness).
You should have absolutely no noise from you coil overs ever. The springs do not rattle around on our coil overs.
If there is any noise, it is most likely a bushing that needs more compression. We can easily walk you through your questions and help resolve your concerns.

That's interesting because the company that installs these in Dallas says every set of Pfadts he has ever installed does the same thing, race or street. He has corrected it by using a zip tie to secure the spring to the mount. The noise is not a bushing noise. It is the same noise made by every set of coilovers I have had on the Vette, Mustangs, etc. They only make noise for me at low speed and over, not bumps, but imperfections in the road pave (not damage induced).

Depending on how they are setup, the spring can either be snug at full droop (like we ship them now) or a little loose at full droop. The difference really comes in with how we are trying to set the overall shock length. On units that were set loose, sometimes the spring has to re-seat on the perch after setting the car back on the ground or entering a driveway with a really steep angle, that should be a very rare situation.
The older sets used a system where the upper spring set against the chassis with no insulation. That tended to transmit any road and tire noise directly to the frame, and was noticable especially on cars that have minimal sound insulation like the Z06 cars. Not really coil over noise, but still potentially annoying. We changed that to make them less likely to transmit any noise to the cabin from the chassis. Our new sets use a poly bushing at the upper end of the rear units to provide some insulation. The system is like we have always used on the fronts.
In most cases when I diagnose a 'coil over noise' it is traced to a bushing that needs a little tightening, or an old swaybar endlink that has started to make noise. In any case, we are happy to work with a customer that has some noise. If an install shop is not giving satisfactory resolution, feel free to call us directly. We should be able to help.

When did you update the systems? Mine were installed about two months ago (I think) and were purchased through EnglandGreen and you drop shipped them to me. My sways and bushings are brand new. The noise was worse when I was running with no sways (pre-corner balancing). I installed the rear sway and I initially thought the noise went away but it was still there, just not so frequent. I guess more controlled.....? Anyways, I do think it is related to the sag/spring rate relationship since the shock bodies are adjustable as well as the spring rate/sag (correct?). Thanks!
I will add that I don't expect a coilover system to be quiet.... They never are. But if you are saying they should be, hey, why not!

thanks for your input. ill be calling pfadt to talk about this a little more. in reality its no big deal. just wanted to make sure there was no defects or anything like that. the coilovers make my car look and handle great.
have this noise also running over ruts in the road, sounds like 'coil slap' for want of a better term.
I have your Pfaddy bars, and poly bushings inatalled.
My car is very low, should I be using a 'bump steer kit'?
