Christmas Mod...NEED HELP...
I CAN ONLY DO ONE CHRISTMAS MOD AND NEED HELP, WHICH ONE IS MORE BENEFICIAL. I HAVE A A4 AND WANT TO DO EITHER LONG TUBE HEADERS WITH CATS AND X-PIPE OR CHANGE OUT MY 273 GEAR TO 342. NEED HELP WHICH MODE SHOULD I DO? AND WHICH WILL GIVE ME THE MOST HORSEPOWER?

Although 3.42 gears will not give you any horsepower, you will get the most performance out of them when compared to the two mods.
A4 cars also respond really well to tunes. If your car is stock/near stock, there are some good mail order tuners on the board here. They can make changes to firm up your transmission/shift points in addition to squeezing out a few more hp.
So my vote is gears, and add a tune if you can.

If you want a perceived S.O.T.P. improvement - go with the gears. If you are looking for about 15 - 20HP, then LT's and a good tune will help. Personally - I'd go with the gears.

Mine is the same set up with a 383 and it really makes a difference.

HP or no HP, ultimately the goal is to go faster and wake up the car more, am I right?! You will achieve that goal better with upgrading your gears. I had 3.15's, I went to 3.42... it seems like a major upgrade. I can never push the car to its max, cuz it will break loose with my old tires.
LT's would be the "next" thing to do... (IMHO)

Gears. Name brand headers, highflow cats, and x pipe and tune will only get you around 20-25 hp max. This is a realistic number. I'm kinda sorry about spending money on headers and a tune.
