Chasing the cause of my P0410 code I discovered that the battery leaked and melted two vacuum hoses!
Can anyone tell me where they run, I found one that goes into a taped harness and seems to go to the A/c..the other I can only find the end that comes from below, the vacuum canister I assume
Does this run thru one of the fat harnesses that head across the back of the engine?
Get some baking soda(BIG BOX) mix with a gallon of water and pour all over the area under the battery. Make sure you get everywhere! Keep pouring it until it stops bubbling. DO THIS NOW! That acid will eat everything and cost you a fortune to fix.
As for the vaccuum lines, the acid ate your main line into two pieces. Get some rubber fuel line, and splice it back together. Make sure you cut the hard lines back far enough to get to good line. You won't have control of your HVAC output until the line is fixed. You won't be able to switch from defrost, upper, lower, or mix. The HVAC runs on vaccuum to move the directional control door.
Fixing the line is fairly easy and straightforward. But, GET THE ACID NEUTRALIZED NOW! I can't stress this enough.
Keep us posted how you're doing, and let us know if you need any help.

I'm curious is this your original battery or was it a replacement?
What brand and model battery was it?
Have you been periodically inspecting for leaks throughout the time you've owned it?
Yeah I just ordered one too.

It was, I believe the original Delco (had the green eye). I had it out about a year ago, was clean then.
I have neutrallized the area with baking soda and CRC battery cleaner. Bought an Optima and will be ordering a mat too, don't want this mess again
Thanks for everyones help. Thanks for the link Junkman...it was definitely two hoses...one is fixed now, I will open up the large harness and see if I can find the other end.
I guess I am not immune to the C5 pixies, while its down I am ordering a CLB too!
