every time i turn around i have some fool 2 inches off my back end. Seems like Im drawing way to much bad attention and wonder if it happens to you guys as well or is it just me?
It doesn't happen to me at all out here in the San Francisco Bay Area. But then again, there are a lot of nice cars out here. My car is down-right common.
Unless you are at WOT and they are behind you you shouldn't be concerned about how close they are. If you are at WOT and they are that close you may need some engine work.
I wonder about that too. But it may just be the illusion of them being closer than normal. I notice it when sitting in traffic. Keep in mind the driver's head is much closer to the back of the car in a Vette. Just my thoughts.

Maybe it's an Illinois thing but I notice it too. It doesn't bother me when I have 6 feet of Ranger bed between me and them. But when a soccer Mom has her Beemer SUV 12 inches behind the Vette it's a different feeling. It certainly doesn't take much GO pedal to dust them off, still everybody is in a big hurry and far more important (so they think) than you,
I haven't experienced this yet in the Z06, buy I get this all the time in my 427/SC Shelby Cobra replica. I have been almost rear-ended twice (by people driving like maniacs trying to catch up to me to get a closer look), and have caused two (2) accidents by people rubber-necking and then rear-ending someone else!
I still chuckle when I think about those.
As far as "messing with me"...I get that from the ricer crowd ALL THE TIME. Especially the kids with the turbo'd cars...they like to make their wastegate valves pop to spurn me on. I just laugh at them and wave.
I get it sometimes from the back, but all the time from the sides they zoom up and just sit next to me trying to see in the car. I have limo tinted side windows, and they are always up so they cant actually see me so it doesn't bother me at all and I ignore them. Its funny though as they get in front of me they are looking back to try and see me through the windshield.
Years back when I was driving my 70 Goat..A guy was messing with me at a light, when the light turned green he took off smoking the tires thinking we were gonna go at it as I was also reving at the light.
NOT...
About 1/4 mile up the road he got pulled over...
regarding the Z06, I will just give them the two finger Piece sign and move on...Theres really not much to prove, even if by chance they happen to have a road rocket, it's still not a Vette and certainly not a Z06.
At this point in my life I'm pretty much convinced there are faster cars than mine , crazier drivers than me and better Guitar Players than me too !

Fellow Z06 & Factory Five owner here as well. Hi =)
The world is full of really stupid people. There are all kinds of folks who think their clapped-out Sentra with a fart-can exhaust are really special and can keep up with a 'vette. I just let 'em go so they can be the rabbit. Just last night a guy in a Focus went flying ahead of me as I slowly started to overtake him. As he sped off into the distance my V1 lit up and there was a cop hidden in the center divider. He didn't give chase, but I'm glad he unzipped his fly by clocking the rabbit with his speed gun.

Happened to me a few weeks ago. It was a blacked out Dodge SRT4. I was just crusing on the interstate late on a Sunday night and when I went by him I guess I rubbed him the wrong way because he got on my rear in no time, then tried to pass. A little flick into 3rd took care of that and when I put some distance I pulled back to the slow lane only to have him come up on my rear again. The "OH SH@T I'M GOING TO REAREND A Z06" look on his face when I abruptly slowed from 80 to 55 was priceless (I donwshifted so if he did get too close I could accelerate out of it). He stayed way back then. I guess he forgot to upgrade his brakes when he upgraded his power
If your talking about at stop signs and stop lights when people pull up so close that they look like they are in your trunk....Then yes it happens all the time, But I did put an end to it last week with one of the drivers...Some a$$hole thought is was funny to get so close all I could see was there bright light. After about 3 stop light I jumpped out of my car and opened the door of the pick up and asked the driver what the hell was his problem. Like the little piece of **** he was he said "What are you talking about" I just slammed his door shut and got back in the Z and drove off....People never ceace to amaze me......
"God must love stupid people, becuse he made alot of them........."

...in many places, that would more than likely get you shot by a mousy driver "fearing for his life". It might even be accepted as self defense.
My suggestion is to sit through a few red/green lights or stop signs when someone is that close. They'll eventually decide they want to get where they were going a little quicker.
Or, get on your cell phone and dial 911...tell the PD that you have an aggressive driver tailgating you and you fear for your life.
Take a picture of how close the vehicle is with your cell phone camera, just in case...

in my younger days the idea of a conflict with some idiot on my butt got me out of the car banging on windows having a fit. Today I know more and more people are carrying guns and I'd like to be around a few more years. I own a small towing company out here and you would be shocked to know what people are carrying around. For me i think I'll just stick my foot in it and ignore the fools if they want to hit me then fine hit me its gotta be better than getting shot for jumping on some putz.
