Default HELP for a friend

my buddy got in an accident and his car is done for. He is looking to spend probably max around 18,000 after taxes if he gets it brand new.. He found a deal supposably on an 08 Ford Mustang V6 for 15,0000+tax. HE isnt into cars and is only 19. I told him there a much better options that he could probably get such as the mazda3 or civic si. He claims that it is stated to be that ford no has a better reliability rating than toyota and has an above average resale value. is this true? and are there any other cars you guys may think he may like.. would it be better in his case to go new or ook for one used?

thanks for the help guys.

You could find worse cars than a Mustang V6---however, for another $1500 to $2000 he should be able to get the V8 Mustang.

I've bought and driven a number of new Ford products ranging from a 1980 F150 van to a 2004 Mercury Marauder. Most of them were driven well past 100,000 miles (I sold the Marauder @ 70,000 miles when I bought the AE) without much money spent on repairs (other than routine stuff like brake pads and filters).

That's not a bad deal for an '08 Mustang V6. Probably would be a decent car for him.

Yes, that 08 tang sounds like a very good price..all depends on what he wants in power...as someone else stated, alittle older and pickup a GT Tang...I had a 2K and it was a nice solid automobile...Good luck to your friend....
