my 2000 vette with 118000 miles is showing signs of wear on the inner two inches of both front tire treads...pretty much equal wear. i suspect an alignment is in order or maybe something else is amiss ???? any front suspension suggestions would be greatly appreciated. front end maintenance work performed to date has only been one shock replacement and both sway bushings, about 30000 miles ago. thanks
I ask my local GM service mgr. to speak to GM about the problem and he was told that this is the nature of the beast. GM had no recommendations of how to solve the uneven wear problem. I have been very disapointed with General Motors lack of concern. I have owned a 98 and currently and 02 with 21,000 miles with the same problem on both. After about 6,000 miles on the tires they are worn and very noisy. It doesn't seem to make a difference what brand of tire. If anyone has figured out how to solve this problem keep me in mind. It is not a problem of worn parts or tires out of balance.
Find a good recommended alignment shop with experience in four wheel alignment of C5/Z06 Corvettes. Ask other Corvette owners or club members for their recommendations.
Tell the tech what type of driving you do and what realistic type of tire wear you'd like to achieve. A good tech can align your C5/Z06 so that you will see better tire wear, but maybe at the "expense" of lesser handling characteristics.
