Any problems with your to top (aligment, seal, etc?
hey, zimzim,
thanks for the compliment. as for any probs, no, there have been no issues. i'm just glad i live in cali.
the only thing i need to do is have the "rods" in the top adjusted. these rods determine how much the rear of the top comes into contact with the rear molding strip in the vert hatch. if they are adjusted too far(?), like mine, then you get a little paint rub around the two back corners. some say it's common, but i know guys w/verts that don't have that issue. maybe they never have their tops up so the top never sees the paint...lol.
i don't know the situation with the used deal you're looking at, but it seems a little high for an '01 z0 with 40k+ miles. but if it's what you want, then i say go for it.
The standard Caravaggio conversion uses all standard parts, the pace car tonneau cover is an option. The risk you run not knowing who did the conversion is that for all you know it could be a wrecked car that was converted as part of a severe repair.
Why not just buy a roadster and put in the Z06 components you want? The Z06 was designed with a bar through the top for body stabilization. The original roadster is made to go topless. A few suspension mods, a few cosmetic mods, and a motor swap. Maybe exhaust (most change it to aftermarket anyway). BOOM! You have exactly what you want.

This is the way to go! Actually getting the performance out of the LS1 would be easy. Do the cosmetic stuff then add an STS turbo or a supercharger to add 100+ hp to the LS1 and play. To me, the ducting and wheels are the only real cosmetic ques involved-you could easily get tones of ponies out of the LS1 cheaper than a convertable conversion of a Z.
While attending the annual Eureka Springs Corvette Weekend the first weekend in October last year. I saw two (2) C6 Z06 convertibles, from Texas, owned by a Father / Son combination. Pretty cool and they looked fantastic. As I recall, they were also fitted with forced induction systems, awesome cars!
