What do you want??? Get what is going to make you happy.
That's why I'm asking for opinions from others... both will make me happy, just trying to figure out which will make me happiest It's good hearing people going in for an auto and coming out with a manual. I guess I can hear all the pros and cons I want for each side, but it all comes down to test driving.
So, anyone think I'll have a chance going in to a dealership and asking for a test drive?
Pat Goss gave me some great info for test driving a vette. Drive the one you want to buy...not a different vette,he said there can be as much as a 30 HP difference between engines!
(hate when people call them "motors" ....motors are electric)
The guys with the A4 are going to tell you the A4 is best…….the guys with the manual are going to tell you the manual is best…….test drive both and decide for yourself. If you want the Z06, then you have no choice.
You want an automatic, buy a Cadillac, you want a vette get a manual. You want a Z06 the choice is made for you. (smart people those folks in the Chevrolet marketing division.)
I got a Z06 because I'm the only one in the house that enjoys a manual tranny. Kinda makes the Z mine by default.
I had an A4 with the 3:15, so if you do get the A4, make sure it has the performance rear-end, they have a little more pep.
I like the MN6 and my next VETTE will have that, just more fun.
The reason I wasn't so upset with the A4 was I bought it in an area that had alot of traffic during the times I was in the car on the weekdays and it was so much nicer to deal with traffic with the A4 than my previous LS1 powered car with the MN6.
An A4 with a nice TC and a decent set of gears can be ALOT of fun too.
Best of luck and test them both out, buy what you like more.
BTW, an A4 VETTE is going to be alot more fun than your current AUTOMATIC car hands down.
I actually went from a 97 escort 5 speed to a 99 C5 6 speed... I actually think I like the clutch in the C5 better. The escort was so mushy I wouldnt let it out all the way before hitting the gas. As long as you don't go directly from the escort to the C5, the clutch won't even feel heavy at all. As far as a Z06, I'm guessing the clutch is a little heavier, prolly not bad tho.
a. if the car will be purchased with your money; then don't give a **** what others think or try to define. Who cares ?
b. if you can't decide on an auto/manual... then I say you shouldn't be buying a sports car right now. A person that's truly ready to buy a sports car, will know exactly what they want.
c. "It is blasphemy to own an automatic sports car" (see "a")
d. you said you were the lazy type. You've just described me behind the wheel; and the past 18 vehicles I've owned, 16 have been automatics... because.. I know the type of person I am. I will never own a manual shift again.

That's a personal choice, myself I enjoy the 6 speed standard....for my sports car...other vehicles such as my Tundra - auto is best...If you purchase an FRC, you'll have no choice on this matter, so get an FRC, and your worries are over....roflmao

You're the only one that can decide what you should get. When you get ready, test drive both a manual and auto equipped Vette and see which one suits your needs. However, if you do a lot of heavy traffic driving, the auto may be the way to go.
Always liked your car, did you ever go through with selling it?
I am an idiot! Miss it more than I ever thought I would, so after talking to momma tonight (no kidding), I will be looking for another (C5Z or FRC) this Spring.
