i need some more opinions on my situation. i got my 02 Z06 last summer and it had a cracked windshield down the middle from a highway rock chip (yes i knew about it and got a price decrease at sale too). I've made it through the season without no leaks or glare issues. obviously its going to annoy me so i just need to get it replaced. Does anyone have any experience in putting a non-HUD windshield in a HUD car? I know it can be done and for a big price decrease, but i know the HUD will be less efficient and the weight savings will not be there. But its really hard to justify an average $600 difference between the two. What does anyone think? i bought this car to keep and just drive so re-sale value isnt important but i've heard you can certainly tell the difference between a HUD/non-HUD opinions?
I had mine replaced but through my insurance, did not cost me a penny until the a## hats drove the front of the car over the sidewalk but that is another story. It really seems split on the HUD vs. NON HUD issues. If it were me I would highly recommend keeping it like it supposed to.
Information in there on sources for the HUD windshield at very reasonable prices. No reason to go with a non-HUD windshield when they are available with HUD, Z06 spec for the same price as a regular windshield.

My 03 Z has HUD in it and I was recently in an accident that had made some shallow scrape marks in it.........dealer has insisted that the insurance company pay for 3 new windows (all but passenger side)
All 3 glasses are good and can be buffed out............not sure how well something like that would finish out............anyway I would be willing to sell you my "good but scratched" windshield if your interested.
Both the front and rear glass is OEM only cost for the front is like $1100 and the rear window is $2000....
These 2 items might be what pushes my estimate into a total loss
