I currently have a 4 post lift with 10' ceilings. I will be using my lift to raise the roof of the garage higher. How high should I go? 14 feet 15 ??
I figure I will take the height of my suburban plus the height of the corvette and add 18". Sound good I'm up for suggestions.

The first question is--will your suburban fit under your lift now?
suburban will not fit under would have to be on top. It seems if you figure in garage opener rail pluc garage track ypu seem to lose about
12" of space so 14 will net me 13'.

No middle obstruction or track with Chamberlain side mount garage door opener. Had one now 6 months. Quiet and awesome. Lift coming soon--Rotary Revolution or Bend Pak. Do it!
I am basically going to build a table out of 6 x 6 posts that have been cross braced an set 2 beams on top that go the entire length of the garage. Set it on the lift raise it 4' and put in small 4' wall and set roof back down. I'll be doing it in a couple of weeks It'll be a huge success or I'll take the video to Americas funniest home movies and win so I can fix the garage if it doesn't work.
Yes I called the truss company that made my trusses for the weight. Added in the shingles and plywood. I've calculated it 4 different ways and figure best case 3000 and worst case 4000 the lift is rated for 7000.
It depends on the lift, but I think your problem will be that the Burb will not fit under the lift end rails. I can put my daughter's Trailblazer under with 1/4" to spare, but the 3/4 T Burb isn't even close. With 13' ceiling, the Burb will go all the way up on the lift without hitting the flourescent light fixture which sticks down about 4". As you know, you will need a side mounted garage door opener and optionally raised tracks (really only for looks/tidyness). Two Corvettes should fit under a 9 1/2' ceiling, but is nice to have the higher ceiling for working under the car (oh my aching back!). I should have bought a lift YEARS ago!
You are correct for storage the burb goes up and the corvette goes under I don't have the space for a side opener. so will have to raise opener and tracks to ceiling I think I will go 14' to give me enough room.
Several of the lift guys told me to specify 10.5' minimum, so I had the contractor go 11'. By mistake, I got a 13' ceiling (he had figured 12' as we had talked about a lift, and mistakenly added 1' to plans rather than subtracting), but in retrospect, I am glad we went higher. If you are going to store the Burb on top, you can get away with less. As I posted before, I can put the Burb on top of the Trailblazer at 13'. Check out the width between the uprights carefully. On my lift- an AMPRO 9,000#, it is a very tight fit for the pickups and 4wds with mirrors folded, and close for the Vette and my wife's Impala with the mirrors out. The side door lift motor takes up less than 2' of space. I can take exact measurements if you need them - 814-234-7300 (W)(Dave).
