There is a strange noise coming from the clutch/pressure plate area, Its only there or noticable when the car is cold but after driving it around a bit it goes away. Could it be the through out bearing? Anybody have any idea what it could be?
Actually does the noise change when you press the clutch in to the floor, then part way, same sound? Didn't happen to me on my FRC, but did on my Chevelle, and in that case it was the throwout bearing, needing replacing... Not positive, but sure sounds like it..
Some of these cars will have some whine from that is transmited through the shifter area when cold, usually goes away within the first 5 minutes of driving.
If it sounds like marbles in a tin can then don't worry, most C5 Z06's do this to some degree. If it annoys you then just push the clutch in. I find if I push the clutch in and let it out gently it will stay quiet.
If it is more of a whine, or sounds like metal on metal rubbing then it is possible the clutch release (throwout) bearing is on the way out.

Thats exactly what it sounds like! It's a whine with the sound of metal to metal but why does it go away after driving around for bit? How hard is it to replace the clutch on one of this things?I have done the one on my 99 SS and it wasn't to bad.
Hmm interesting. I've noticed a high pitch whine right after I've driven it hard (accelerating quickly, letting RPMs get way high), but I've no clue what it is. And I don't have a wife in the passenger seat... rarely have anyone in the passenger seat, so it's not that. Good question though.
