Default I Need Help !!!

My husband has a 2000 C-5 coupe and I want to get him a new radar detector for Christmas. The one he has is a Valentine One and I would like to upgrade it. He has had the Valentine for a long time. Probably close to when he bought the car in 1999. He also said you can trade-up with Valentine. So, my questions are: How do I go about upgrading, and is there a better radar detector I should look into? I have no knowledge of good detectors and would really appreciate some help making sure I get him the best present at a good price. I could spend as much as needed, but don't really want to go above $1,000.00 for one. Thanks in advance to all you experts out there.

If he already has a V1 it is the best detector on the market today bar none!
As far as upgrades, you can go to the Valentine web site and click on upgrades type in the serial number of his detector and they will tell you what if any are needed.
I bought my V1 in 98 and checked this year and there were some available but not required.

Good advice, but You will have to send the one you have back, thereby being without it for a while.

I agree - have his V1 upgraded. He has gotten used to driving with the arrows, and he won't be happy with anything less.

Just get him a brand new one for $399.00 and keep the old one for another car.

Thanks everyone. For $400.00 I will probably order him a new one and he can put the other in the car he drives to work. I so appreciate the confirmation that Valintine is the best. That's what he told me a while ago, just was checking. Have a great holiday season.

I have a Beltronics that I am very happy with but I have seen a really cool modification for the Valentine. There are vendors who will actually install the Valentine arrows and display into a mirror. They etch the glass and install all of the electronics. I'm not sure if you are interested in doing this but you should be able to find some information on this either in this forum or on fleabay.
