Default C5/ctsv

Anyone with their stock C5 automatic, ever beat a 2004-2005 Cadillac CTSV at the drag strip. My buddy thinks his 2004 CTSV can beat a stock C5. I think the C5 is faster, because the caddy is 500-600lbs heavier.

i think it will depend on the gearing in the c5 and the driver of the ctsv

Alot of factors here.
1. What mods are on the ctsv?
2. How well can you-him drive on a strip? (makes a HUGE difference)
3. What mods do you have?
4. Gearing will make a bit of a difference.
just a little to think about.

Driver's race, IMO. If the C5 has the 3.15 gear it should edge out being 600 lbs lighter. If the C5 has a 2.73 I would lean towards the CTS-V with its 50 more bhp. That CTS-V is not your grandpa's caddy! I'd love to have one.

The CTS-V has the M12 tranny and 3.73's + 400HP. True there is the driver variable but if he is half decent and controls wheel hop launching, he should take a stock C5 automatic. Particularly if the C5 has the 2.73's as someone mentioned.

What a beauty! It's unanimous! Let's all sell our 'Vettes and start a XLR club!

And here's a shot with the top down...

Could be a very close race. The CTS-V is no slouch.
