Every car has "blind spots" The A-Pillar is one. You need to move your head around to see it, it is considered a blind spot. Can you see under the front or rear bumper? Anywhere you can not see is a blind spot.
I never count 100% on my mirrors. I always check the mirrors then turn my head to double check.
I don't know if you would call them 'blind spots', but the FRC/Z06 body style C5's back glass doesn't capture as much light as hatch glass of the C4/C5 Targa cars. This makes judging distance and seeing objects directly behind the Fixed Roof/Zs a little more difficult.
If you've noticed ALL the C6s have the large hatch glass, and it is even LONGER than that of the C5 hatch (not necessarily larger). I believe this is to aid in rear viewing, since the rear deck sits relatively high on these cars (C5s and C6s).
We all love the looks of the FRC pod sized roof bubble (I also like the looks of a C4 with a body colored conv. hardtop), but it does make for a slightly more challenging chore for backing up.
The worst part of the Z06 or FRC is at intersections if you are at an angle. You will learn to stay more a 90 degree angle at intersections, and yes, the mirror settings are very important in traffic. Coupe should be a little better!!
Very funny.
When the top is down it can't be beat!
Top up is a different story though. With my heated seats I drive mostly with the top down. When late fall temps finally force me back to top up driving it's an adjustment to get used to the top up.
Sounds like we may need your definition of a blind spot. I feel like my 02 coupe is as easy to see out of as any vehicle I have driven, better than some (vans) but with the pillars, etc. IMHO there are still blind spots as in any vehicle. Someone on the Silverado forum was complaining about the 2007 Silverado having a problem with a blind spot due to the pillar and mirror set up? I have had a new Silverado each year since 99 and I have yet to notice any unusual blind spot in this area on any of them. I also tend to look in my mirror and then glance to the left or right to be sure, better safe than sorry.
I noticed that the B-pillar behind the driver can be obstructive. However, the C5 has very little area to witch you cannot see out of. I always turn my head to see after checking the mirrors before taking a turn or switching lanes. However I do see the point of the link. Pun not intended.
