Alright fellas so i took the vette for the first time to the track and decided to run it....
first pass at about 1230 was a 12.71 @ idk (slip didnt print it) went back immediately and changed a bit up and ran a 12.57 @ 111.1 on that....
runs were very consisted as follows
12.57@112.8 RE .68 60ft was 2.12
12.51@113.9 RE .54 2.05
12.57@114.2 .67 2.03
and my last run 12.40 @ 115 .85 and a 60ft at 2.019
weather was about 50 or so.. tire pressure was 18lbs. on nitto DR... was launching around 3-4k was getting alot of spin coming off the line... never really warmed them up with a burnout, just a quik into the waterbox and spun for a second or too. im afraid of breaking halfshafts....was a great day with friends and it was funny how my ssk popped out of gear in second and my friend and his bolt on gt thought he would be getting a free win... but pressure got to him and he threw third out the window and i still ran him down... ford and their weaksauce...... but in all seriousness hows this look so far
Not bad for your first time out. Your running similar #s the magazines have posted for stock C5 Z's and they have drivers with some experience. Ranger has his 1/4 mile down, I'd study his suggestions.

Actually the times look great for the first time out. My first pass over three years ago was a 13.27. I read Ranger's posts, made friends at the track and on the forum and my times have changed significantly after 167 passes. Your first 330' are critical.
yes i read rangers post on launching and burnouts... i was just driving the car into the car box, front tires first.... seat time is a must, iv had the car for a year but first time on the track with it. not bad but not great. hopefully next time i will adjust and see what i can produce.... i know the car has more in it.
You have to get a lot more heat into those tires. I also looks like you were granny or short shifting.
i think you guys are right with heating them up more.. as per shifting yes iv been shifting at about 6200 rpm, and hit 4th gear just before the big end... granny shifting? yes if u mean using the whole clutch and removing from the gas.

To me, granny shifting can mean shifting early(short), but I think of granny shifting as meaning shifting slow & easy, like your grandma would on her way to the library...
