The center vent on my O2 Z06 is constantly passing warm to hot air, unless I have the A/C turned on. At times I also seem to hear a vacuum leak sound coming from under the dash. Is there some sort of controlling solenoid valve that is not activated unless there is vacuum?
Need a little more info. Do you have any DIC codes? Do you have dual zone or single zone climate control? Does your HVAC act normally, other than the center vent air? Can you move the air from place to place, IE face, feet, defrost? What about changing temps? When you change the temp, is it the same on both drivers and passengers side?
The HVAC is controlled by vacuum from the engine. Check the line that comes in from the engine bay. Also, check under your battery for signs of acid damage to the vacuum line.
Let us know what you find, and we can narrow it down a bit.
I haven't seen any codes for this, I have the dual zone control and other than this it acts normally. I can move the air around, but I have never noticed if the temps are the same in both zones. The only vent that seems to be bleeding the air is the center vent.
Usually this can be fixed simply by resetting the HVAC controls. in the passenger footwell fuesbox, pull fuses 27 and 18, wait 2-5 minutes then replace them. Many times this will fix your problem
Your blend door might be stuck. Or your vacuum connections are leaking. Either way, looks like your going to have to pull the dash to find out. Good luck and let us know what you find.
Thanks guys, I'll pull the fuse for reset first but I think I already know the answer. Several months ago I posted a question about the sound of a vacuum leak coming from inside the driver's side dash, but nobody had any suggestions, I'm guessing this is all related.
I have extended warrantee on the car, is this something y'all think this might be something they would cover? I can probably guess the answer to that as well.
