Default Simple Seat Heaters

I wanted to add heated seats to my 2000 C-5 with sport seats and figured the simplest way to do it. No need to remove the seats.

The back comes out very simply to place the back heater: There is a zipper across the top of the cushion. Expose the zipper and unzip it all the way to separate both sides of the zipper. Then there are two plastic push in keepers that need to be pulled out, one on each side that can be seen with the top of the cushion pulled back. There are other push in keepers further down but only the one at the top needs to be pulled. Then the cushion can be pulled forward. The bottom is attached with a tounge and groove plastic connector, pull out the tounges and the back comes out easily. Just open it up and place the heater on that. Replace in reverse.

The bottom can be gotten to easily without removing the seat. You need to slip the heating element between the leather fabric and the cushion. Use a mirror to see under the back of the seat. There are two hog rings that hold a fabric piece that attaches to the leather of the seat bottom. Use pliers to grab those two hog rings and pull them off. With the two hog rings off the fabric and leather is easily lifted so the heating element can be placed. You need to decide on how far up to put the heater. It will slip easily to the first velcro that holds the seat leather to the cushion. I put mine just to there and it worked fine (Cut the heater element to length per the package.) If you want it to go further forward just reach in and separate the velcro that is in the way and push the heater further. You do lose some of the fit look doing this because he velcro is not able to hold. To replace the fabric use two zip ties in place of the hog rings pulled off. Use a long plastic zip tie and it is easy to set them and pull the fabric tight again.

There you are heating elements placed, no removing seats. Just need to set up the control switches where you want them, connect power, and done.

Good Info. I ended up taking my seat out so that I could tie down the black box and wire under the seat.

Once you experience heated seats it is hard to accept regular seats anymore (or it could be age thing)
