Default QUICK question...

test driving a yellow 01' Z-06 , have it sitting in the driveway during my lunch hour.

basically, what should I be looking at in detail , and the weirdest thing.... it has a km/h speedo.... only goes to 200 canadian car I assume?

if I buy it, how much $$ am i looking at spending on a MPH speedo, and whats a fair offer price on it (great condition, ~50k miles)

Hi Brettb19 -

I think the Canadian cars also have a block heater on them. Look for an electrical plug on the passenger side of the engine compartment.

I don't think that would be a huge factor in the value of the car.

best regards -

The canadian/export gauge cluster goes go 300. Are you sure someone didn't accidentally press the english/metric button on the DIC to switch it to km/h reading? Even the domestic cars can go back/forth and the needle actually switches scale, it's pretty awesome.

EDIT: now that I tink about it that may be only the standard C5... I don't think they made an export model Z06, I know you couldn't get a C5Z in Europe unless you imported one.

Hi Cobra -

One of my friends (local) has a 2001 Z06 Canadian car, and it has a block heater and a metric speedo.

We had the car all apart and I pulled the build sheet - it said something about being a Canadian car too.

best regards -

lol.... yea about 10 minutes from my house I started playing with all of the switches and buttons.... it was on metric and went back to MPH with a simple touch.

I am going to be skipping on this car and keep looking... car had been abused apperantly, previous nitrous install, crappy exhaust on it, it took it by the good guys at Texas Speed for a little C5 knowledge. I'll find something soon

there are plenty of nice 01/Z06's out there that are bone stock...It took me about 2 1/2 months of looking and offering before I brought a car home.

Did it on MY time and MY terms...makes for very good peace of mind.

I would be happy to share my checklist with you , just say the word and I will send it along...

my simple advice, don't ever look at a car without preparation. The last two cars I looked at I asked the owner to turn them off as I wasn't ready for it to be powered up. They were blown away. I decided against both cars without even driving them but I drove them anyway just to get a reference line going.

Another Car I looked at I made an offer before we were 3 feet inside his garage !! After speaking with the owner outside for 10 min and then seeing the Car it was obvious what we had here , but he turned me down, he's still holding out for top $$$.

good luck
