Electric Motor driven headlight focus
I recall that a few years ago there was a German firm that was experimenting with a HID that had an electric motor on it that caused it to focus like a Maglite. I think it was in Popular Mechanics or Popular Science. There was a small electric motor that turned a gear that caused the lens to operate in the same manner as a Maglite to pinpoint the beam. I believe it was being designed for rally cars and the driver could adjust the focus.
